This webinar covers the concepts of connecting iDashboards Enterprise Edition and X Platform to Microsoft Analysis Services OLAP cubes. Two available connection architecture options in MS Management Studio are discussed, as well as the data source connections in the iDashboards administrative application. An iDashboards technical consultant also reviews the live cube connected dashboard.
iDashboards is capable of querying MSAS cubes in real time directly from iDashboards charts using familiar MDX queries to retrieve cube data. There are two connectivity methods depending on how the data has been configured beforehand. These are outlined in Architecture 1 and 2 below. These solutions were tested on fresh installations of iDashboards v8.0, MS SQL Server 2008 R2 with Analysis Servers and the JTDS JDBC driver (to connect iDashboards to SQL Server).
This document applies to Multi-Dimensional as well as Tabular Mode models in MSAS.
