Question:
How can the reporting module be completely disabled so that the users don't have the option to run reports.
Answer:
There are two ways to disable reporting.
First Method:
1. You can turn Reporting off for anyone that does not have "save" rights for the dashboard or charts. Go to: Admin console - 'SYSTEM' - 'System settings' - hit the dropdown and go to 'Report Settings'. Here set the "Reports Enabled by Default" option to 'False' This will by default turn reporting off for all new dashboards and charts.
2. Now if you have charts and dashboards built you will need to go in and disable them one at a time. When you right click on a dashboard the option will be “Dashboard Report Properties” the first option will be “Report Enabled” uncheck. You will need to do the same with the charts right click on a chart to open the menu go to “more options” -> “chart report properties” -> fist option “Report Enabled” again uncheck it. Once this has been done anyone that tries to create, a report will get a message saying, “Reports are not available for this chart” However, if you have save option you can turn it on and run a report. This is why you cannot really turn it off for anyone with save options to a chart.
Second method:
Uninstall the Reports module. To do so, stop Tomcat and then go into the '../ivizgroup/' install folder and remove/rename the “report” folder. Once that is done start Tomcat, now when anyone tries to run reports you will get a message saying “Reports have not been installed.”
