Google Chrome version 71 removes the option to remember Flash preferences for specific websites. As such, requests to allow Flash will appear in each new browser session when you open the iDashboards with Google Chrome 71 and above.
As of V9.7f we have introduced a new intro page to give users a better direction when Flash is disabled. The new page gives the user the option to use HTML or dives direction to enabling flash. If Flash is enabled on the system the page will not show and the Flash version of iDashboards will open by default.
Managing Chrome Policies
We recommend IT groups use the following Google Chrome policies:
To grant users access to iDashbaords, while preventing the use of Flash in other applications, set following policies:
- Software\Policies\Google\Chrome\DefaultPluginsSetting = 1 or 3 (integer)
- Allow all sites to automatically run the Flash plugin
- Block the Flash plugin
- Click to play
- Software\Policies\Google\Chrome\PluginsAllowedForUrls\1 = URLtoYOURiDashboards (string)
You can find full descriptions of each Chrome policy is available from Google:
Removing Flash From iDashboards
Our development team is working toward removing Flash from the iDashboards Product. We have been per-pairing for this transition for some time and have already been working on the migration. The first release of the Flash free version of iDashboards will be available midyear 2019.
Installing the iDashboards Desktop App
The first step will be to download the app installer from the following location:
Once the download has completed, run the installer, which will take care of installing the app itself, Adobe AIR, and add a shortcut to your desktop.
Now that we've got the app installed, the next step is to connect to your iDashboards installation. Launch the iDashboards App from the desktop shortcut or start menu and click Add Server. You'll want to click this even if you are running iDashboards from your PC or laptop.
Next, you'll give your server a Display Name of your choosing and add the URL you normally use in your browser to connect to iDashboards.
You can also choose to have the Desktop Application connect to your iDashboards installation automatically when it is launched, by ensuring that Connect on Startup is checked. Once you've entered a Display Name and your URL, click Save to return to the main screen.
Now you'll see the iDashboards installation you have added. Click the switch on the right to launch it, and you're all set!
