With new versions of MS SQL Server being released, it is common for customers to want to update to a later version of SQL Server. This easy to follow guide to step you through moving your databases to a new Server.
- Back up your iDahsboards Databases. In a typical installation, you will have 3 (iDashboards, idb_workbooks, and idb_datastore)
(Place the files in a location that can be accessed by your new server.)
- Restore the Databases on the new Server. On the New Server, you are going to restore the databases you just backed up
(Please note, you may need to click on the Files tab and select the “Relocate all files to folder” option)
This is commonly needed when changing versions of SQL server.
- Disconnect the Current Database User. If you are planning on using the SAME user-id, you will need to disconnect the current database user by going under the database, security, logins, and deleting the user-id
4. Map-Server User to iDashboards Databases. You will want to re-map the user under the Server’s Security. This is accomplished under the User Mapping section of the User Properties screen.
With our new 10.2 version having the ability to automatically update the repository database through the application, we suggest that you just give the db_owner permission to all 3 databases.
